Through monitoring and controlling blood osmolality in real time, future versions of the FUSION system will have the potential to lower mortality rates in patients who have strokes, brain trauma, meningitis, encephalitis, and status epilepticus. Through monitoring intravascular volume status in real time, future versions of the FUSION system will have the potential to improve volume resuscitation efforts in patients with septic shock or severe trauma, which may serve to lower mortality rates in these patients. Through monitoring and controlling blood pressure in real time, future versions of the FUSION system may assist the bedside nurse in managing the blood pressure of patients with septic shock or those who have undergone cardiac surgery. |
